What is Stress and Anxiety

Let’s look at the definitions:
Stress – a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome
Anxiety – a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances

On the news:
Lost productivity caused by workers depression and anxiety costs the
Canadian economy almost $50 billion a year, according The Conference
Board of Canada.
The report released on September 01, 2016 specifies that depression costs the economy at least $32.3 billion annually, while anxiety costs another $17.3 billion a year.
Worker productivity is lost through both absenteeism – when employees are away from their jobs – and presenteeism – when they go to work while sick and perform with reduced productivity.

Hypnotherapeutic approach

It has been known that the stress comes first as a response to a threat, which triggers our fight/flight mechanisms, and anxiety is a reaction to stress.

The threat can be an overwhelming feeling, a fear, or just and overload with message units. When we try to process too much information in a short period of time, our mind goes into fight/flight response and a feeling of anxiety appears.

Stress comes most of the time from external environment and cannot be controlled by us. What we can control and increase, with Hypnotherapy in special, is our tolerance to stress.

There are people who are immune to stress, imagine how good their coping mechanism is.

Hypnotherapy has marvelous tools to deal with stress and anxiety; sometimes we have to eliminate the root cause, other times we use a symptomatic approach, depending of anxiety type.
