Fears

Every human being reacts physically and emotionally to the approach of a danger – lighting during a storm, cars, wild or domestic animals etc. The physiological changes affect the muscles, nerves, organs, and chemistry of the body in order to prepare the individual to fight the danger or to flee the scene. When the crisis is over, the accelerated peace of the body systems slows down and the individual returns to a normal state.

We are born with two basic fears: fear of falling, and fear of loud noises. Any other fears we learn thorough the life.
Most fears have their origin in childhood; the child has limited reasoning abilities, and makes him very suggestible to fear of the unknown. However, fears can develop later in life due to some traumatic experiences.

The most common fears are:

Phobias

While fears are originated by rational factors, phobias are, by definition fears triggered by irrational and unknown factors, and when are experienced often enough, will disturb a person’s everyday life. Some of the most common phobias are:

  • Acrophobia – fear of heights
  • Agoraphobia – fear of open spaces
  • Claustrophobia – fear of closed spaces
  • Hematophobia – fear of blood
  • Nyctophobia – fear of dark
  • Xenophobia – fear of strangers
  • Mysophobia – fear of dirt or contamination
  • Zoophobia – fear of animals

Hypnotherapy has been proven to be one of the most efficient ways to remove fears and phobias simply because individuals are suggestible one way or another to different circumstances that create these kind of reactions.

Hypnotherapeutic approach of fears versus phobias

Hypnotherapy has different tools and methods in dealing with fears and phobias. It is very important to establish first the root cause of fear – real, rational or irrational. The cause determines if the fear of something is a real fear, in which case will be used the cycle therapy in removing it.

If the fear is actually a phobia, then we have to deal with it symptomatically by using the desensitisation techniques to block it or removing it from subconscious.
